WeDoctor’s "Chinese HMO" Contributes "Chinese Wisdom" to Worldwide Health Reform

HONG KONG, CHINA - - 28 September 2018 - The Third Asian Healthcare Leadership Summit (AHLS) was held in Singapore's Sentosa World of Interest from September 21 to September 22. One of the most influential conferences in the field of global healthcare, the conference was attended by more than 500 VIP guests from more than 20 countries on five continents.

As the only Chinese enterprise invited, We Doctor Holdings Limited ("WeDoctor") shared the story of China's technology-driven medical upgrade and WeDoctor's "Chinese Health Management Organization ("HMO")" with guests from around the world.

China has nearly one-fifth of the world's population, but the average number of doctors per thousand is only 2.1, far less than that in Europe and the United States. Facing the problems of an overwhelming number of patients in the first-class hospitals at Grade 3 and the shortage of medical resources in remote areas, China has found a unique solution to balance medical resources and protect the health of families and individuals through scientific and technological means such as the Internet and artificial intelligence.

Jerry Liao, founder and CEO of WeDoctor, introduced in his keynote speech that WeDoctor has been helping hospitals, doctors and patients to improve the efficiency of medical services from the  starting point of appointment registration. Since its establishment eight years ago, WeDoctor has connected more than 2,700 hospitals, 240,000 doctors and more than 20,000 pharmacies in China, becoming the country's largest doctor-patient matching platform and big data platform for medical and healthcare, helping doctors to better serve patients and enabling patients to find good doctors nearby.

"Just 13 days ago, the first base of the WeDoctor HMO was established in Chengdu, Sichuan," Jerry Liao said. He elaborated that the service base can connect the WeDoctor platform through cloud hospital information systems ("HIS") and provide convenient medical and health services for individuals, families and institutions, and execute its "online + offline, general practice + specialty, whole person + whole process" strategy through intelligent health terminals.

George Papandreou, former Greek Prime Minister and President of Socialist International, met with Jerry Liao after the meeting, expressing the view that that the "Chinese HMO" model led by WeDoctor is exciting and different from Caesar's in the United States, the application of WeDoctor HMO model in China is more flexible, and all relevant aspects of the system have been comprehensively and systematically implemented for the first time.

The "WeDoctor Tong" and "WeDoctor Smart Clinic" independently developed using WeDoctor science and technology were presented at the conference, attracting guests from all over the world to stop by and visit and becoming the most sought after "black technology" of medical healthcare at the event. For common minor ailments, the user can call the health manager and transfer to the family doctor with the press of one key to get health guidance quickly. For urgent and serious diseases, family doctors can help to quickly refer patients to physical medical institutions below the line and meet the health care needs of individuals and family users in one stop.

Catherine Mohr, an American medical technology expert, experienced a one-key inquiry service through the WeDoctor services, was connected to doctors within 30 seconds and completed an online consultation within 15 minutes. She said, "China's Smart Home Medical Service is already very advanced, and such a response speed is unimaginable in the United States."

The WeDoctor Smart Clinic is an "Intelligent Medical Station" for all kinds of institutions to serve the health needs of employees. It consists of an intelligent mobile medical all-in-one machine, an intelligent medicine cabinet and a series of intelligent peripherals for inspection. It provides one-stop medical healthcare services such as offline first diagnosis, online re-examination, consultation and follow-up and online medicine purchase for institutional users such as enterprises, nursing homes, communities and schools.

Suhas Kshirsagar from India commented, "China's technology is really refreshing, and WeDoctor has made a unique and innovative attempt to solve the medical problems of the world's largest population. India is also a populous country, and we look forward to seeing such products in India as soon as possible."

Jerry Liao revealed that WeDoctor is speeding up the implementation of its HMO's strategy and has now opened five general practice centers in Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Chengdu, and plans to launch 100 more in the next three years.

The WeDoctor Tong service has entered the homes of millions of families in China, and the WeDoctor Cloud Patrol Service has served nearly ten million grassroots users.

This year, WeDoctor also took a strategic stake in a new IVF Medical Group, Hong Kong's largest assisted reproductive medical group, and set up a joint venture with Asia-Pacific leading idsMED Group to collaborate in building an intelligent medical ecosystem and become a "health gatekeeper" for hundreds of millions of families.
